Perioxisomes, found more in liver and kidney, protect and neutrilize free radicles like oxygen ions, hydrogen peroxide, and other drugs that can damage the cell.
Vesicles
Function
Lysosomes & Peroxisomes
spherical shaped
Found in eukaryotic cells
Vesicles are small membrane enclosed sacs that store and transports substances within the cell
What is a vesicle?
Vesicles are spherical shaped sacs that are classified by their contents. They also are bounded by a single membrane.
Lysosomes bud from the Golgi Apparatus. They contain digestive enzymes that break down larger molecules like proteins, carbohydrates, phospholipids, and nucleic acids.
It's the lysosome's job to break down cells when they are on the verge of dying.
They also take place in the liver, where they help break down glycogen in order to release glucose into the blood stream.
Peroxisome Functions
Similarities: Lysosomes and Peroxisomes are similar but they contain different enzymes. Peroxisomes also are not produced by the Golgi Apparatus but by the Endoplasmic Reticulum
Peroxisomes break down alcohol, killing bacteria, and fatty acids.
They would look like this inside a cell
